We are about ready to hit the road back to SC so we are thoroughly enjoying this last bit of time in FL. Some of our latest excitement - Lucy's umbilical cord fell off! Check out her cute little belly button.
Other good news...Joey and I had our first "date night" as parents. There are few people that I would leave my one week child with but my friend Kimberly (experienced mommy of 3) is probably better at taking care of Lucy than I am. Joey and I went out to see the new Narnia flick - not as good as the first one, in my opinion, but still definitely worth watching. Of course I love all the Narnia stories and the brilliant way CS Lewis weaves in spiritual truth. After the movie we went out to dinner and conducted a self-evaluation of our performance as parents thus far...we think we're doing a darn good job : )
As we were driving home I realized that although I missed Lucy (I know...I was only gone for a few hours), it is so good for me as a mother to have time for myself and with my husband. I have to make sure I step away from diaper changing and cleaning spit-up in order to surround myself with things (besides Lucy) that inspire and encourage me (like the magical adventures of Peter, Susan, Ed, and Lucy...yes - that had a little bit to do with her name : ) so that I don't lose sight of the bigger picture of our lives. It is fun to see how everything I experience now I somehow relate back to her and my hopes and dreams for her life. Anyway...I need a nap...so I better stop rambling...
